Class Overview:

🧪 New Addition: Organic Abstract Panels – Single Layer Brilliance

You’ll be creating single-layer fused glass panels by building visual depth using powders, frit, and enamels — all on a flat sheet of glass. By layering color, value, and texture intentionally, you’ll learn how to present both foreground and background in one cohesive composition.

This technique has a fresh, painterly feel and is perfect for those craving a low-cost, highly creative process that doesn’t rely on expensive tools or equipment.  Just your kiln.

💥 What You’ll Learn

Session 1:

• Creating a three-dimensional panel on a flat glass surface

• Techniques for layering enamel and frit to build rich abstract compositions

• Creating organic movement, flow, and color harmony

• How to “paint” with stencils, brushes, and sifters to define structure and detail

• Use household objects to create design elements

       •. Multi-firing step process

Session 2:

• Assembling your elements into a finished art panel

• Strategies for design harmony, contrast, and balance

• How to create the illusion of depth with color placement

• Firing schedules that preserve softness and vibrancy

• Framing tips for display-ready wall art (no coldworking needed)

 🧰 What You’ll Need

• Bullseye or Oceanside compatible white or cream glass (COE 90 or 96)

• A kiln

• 2 or 3 Simple Screens™

• A few colors of opal glass powders

• Complimentary enamels

• Stencils and basic tools like sifters and brushes

• That’s it! No coldworking or fancy equipment needed
  A complete supply list will be provided one month before class.
